The Committee
Our purpose is to strengthen the individual and political rights which guarantee social and economic justice for all. Our goal, in conjunction with the State and National Democratic Committees, is to support candidates in local, state and national elections. REGULAR MEETINGS We hold monthly meetings to discuss political issues and bring in guest speakers to talk about key issues that effect out lives such as climate change, health care, and energy. Meetings will be held on the first Thursday each month at 7 PM at the Attleboro Public Library. Other meetings for special occasions may be called by the Committee. Sign up for more information. ANNUAL EVENTS Annual caucus to elect delegates/alternates to the State Convention. Only registered Democrats may vote at the caucus. In even numbered years convention delegates will endorse candidates for statewide office. In odd numbered years delegates will evaluate issues, policies, platform modifications, etc. We host the Southeast Democratic Unity Brunch annually that attracts many of our state and local elected officials. We offer the annual Attleboro Democratic City Committee Scholarship. CAMPAIGN SUPPORT During local, state and national elections the Committee will offer a variety of support services to all Democratic candidates. We support Democratic candidates by campaigning and making their views and ideas known to the voters of Attleboro using social media, door-to-door canvassing, and special events with the candidates in Attleboro. We also organize local city debates for our non-partisan local elections and encourage our membership to get involved in local politics and boards and commissions. MEMBERSHIP The Committee is elected by ballot every four years in the Presidential Primary, and membership is limited to 35 excluding life members (20 years), alternate and voluntary members. Changes in ward officials, members, or organization may be effected by elections and notification of appropriate local and state offices. |
